A weekend at the Seaside.

We jumped on a train down to Brighton Beach, to meet Husni and Hadiah who had driven down from Wales where they had spent the weekend.

As we got in, the sun was shining, the air was warm, and it was perfect weather to just sit and relax. We wandered around the town a little, checked out all the sights, and then made our way into ‘The Lanes’, a windy, pedestrian network of laneways, filled with shops and cafes and restaurants and pubs.

The clouds were starting to roll in, so we quickly found somewhere to duck into for lunch.

We stopped off at Bill’s for some salmon soba noodles, duck pies and chocolate brownie milkshakes.

Perfect timing – the clouds rolled away as we finished eating, so we went and sat in the sun, then it was time to sample some of Brighton’s finest coffee at Small Batch. We listened to a busker lost in his own world, jamming on his guitar.

Down to the famous Brighton Pier to wander to the end and back, watching full grown men scream and jump up and down when they won stuffed toys at the shooting gallery, vendors sell ice creams, churros, fish and chips.

We made our way back onto the beach for sunset, for some of the best fish and chips we have had in a while. Soft, fresh cod freshly fried in a thick batter, English cream soda, and the lapping of the waves. Couldn’t be happier.

This little gal was a fan of our chips. She kept running back to us, thinking she could make friends and win some chips.
